Self Portrait Artists
Vincent Van Gogh: Vincent Van Gogh painted 37 self portraits. "Rembrandt van Rijn" is a self portrait that he painted that he felt really captured the painter that he thought he'd become.
David Hockney: A man whose self portraits are painted as if he is looking in the mirror and trying to replicate what is seen. He is different from Van Gogh as he tries to replicate him exactly where as Van Gogh painted what he felt he had become.
Pablo Picasso: Someone whose paintings make it as if he is doing the looking instead of you. He would always portray himself with big eyes that would suck you right into the photo. He is different from both artists as his style is different than theirs and is less realistic.
A work of art can be like a self portrait because the artwork itself can express the artist's ideas and personality. This can happen depending on what materials are used, what kinds of colors are incorporated, and what kind of message they are trying to portray.
